𝗚𝗬𝗘𝗢𝗡𝗚𝗝𝗨 𝗦𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗛 𝗞𝗢𝗥𝗘𝗔

𝗚𝘆𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗷𝘂 (경주) is a coastal city located far southeast of the South Korean province of North Gyeongsang. This city is a historical city for South Korea, which is filled with cultural and artistic dressings from the past.

 

Korean culture that was influenced by Buddhism is evident in the civilization of this city. The city also has many UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Gyeonju was once the capital of the Korean kingdom of Silla. Gyeonju first entered non-Korean historical records during the Samhan period. The city was at that time the center of Korean political and cultural life and home to the royal palace of Silla and the residence of the royal elite. The city was once under Goryeo rule and was attacked by Mongol and Japanese forces in different periods. During the Japanese occupation, the city served as a railroad track. Now, this city is under the territory of South Korea which is also developed into an industrial and manufacturing city.

 

 

Like most cities in South Korea, the inhabitants of this city are homogeneous residents of Korean ethnicity. Many foreign Asian people come to this place to work in the automotive sector. They mostly come from the Philippines, China, Taiwan, Indonesia and Vietnam. People in this city speak the Gyeongju dialect, a dialect of Korean, which is similar to the Gyeongsang dialect. This city is the center of Korean Buddhism.

 

 

There are various interesting places that you can visit when you are in Gyeongdu. You can visit the Gyeongju National Museum which keeps the history of Silla. You can find a giant bell named Bell of King Seongdeok. As the center of Korean Buddhism, you can find a large Buddha statue of Seokguram. You can also see Yangdong Folk Village, a village that stood when the Joseon people ruled. Apart from those places, there are still many places in Gyeongju that you can visit.
