How to fix 0x80073712 Windows 10 : Today, (or recently) one of my Win 10 pc’s stopped being able to connect to devices other than another Win10 laptop and an Epson printer on my home network. I can still see all the other pc’s – Win 7, Win XP, printers attached to them – in the Bluetooth & Devices list but it says they’re not connected. All the other pc’s are switched on and I can communicate with them from my other Win10 laptop without difficulty.
Attempting to print to one of the printers I get an error dialogue –
Operation could not be completed (error 0x00000180)

Which is unhelpful as it’s not a hyperlink, nor is it complete.
Also if I look at my network in explorer it does not show, nor can it, find any of my other computers, even if I type their address into the search box, and the troubleshooter does not find any problems.
I had not made any recent changes to network and sharing on the affected laptop before this effect cropped up. Currently network discovery and sharing are on with everyone able to read and write, (it was set to specific users previously)
Broken Windows Update components can be one of the factors why this issue occurs. To better facilitate your concern, I’d like to verify the following:
- Are you getting the same error as JasonWang64? If not, may a know the error message or error code that you’re getting.
- Have you tried following the troubleshooting steps provided on the link in Lawrence Lib post? If so, can you give me an eye-view of the results?
- What is the KB number of the update that you’re trying to install?
As an initial troubleshooting steps, I’d recommend turning on the Windows Update services via Command Prompt (Admin). Here’s how:
- In the Search box, type cmd, right-click the result and select Run as administrator.
- Once Command Prompt starts, copy and paste the following commands and press Enter after each line in order to run it:
SC config wuauserv start= auto
SC config bits start= auto
SC config cryptsvc start= auto
SC config trustedinstaller start= auto
- Once done, restart your device to apply the changes and try to install the Windows Update again.

Step 1: download Windows 10 1703 from the following link:
Choose the following:
– Windows Final
– Windows 10, version 1703
– Windows 10 Pro + Home
– x64 (64 bit) x32 (32 bit)
Step 2: create a bootable copy
Step 3: perform a custom install
There are some compatibility issues with Windows 10 version 1709 and certain hardware or software. There is no explanation why a lot of these problems are happening in Windows 10 1709, but the release is significantly flawed. Software and Hardware that once worked in previous versions, just suddenly stops working in Windows 10 1709 after an upgrade and sometimes loses functionality or stability.
If you just upgraded, you can rolling back:
Open Start > Settings > Update & security > Recovery > under Go back to my previous version of Windows 10, click Get started.
If you are unable to do it from the desktop
Press Control + Alt + Delete
Click Sign out
At the Sign In screen, hold down the shift key on your keyboard while clicking the Power button on the screen
Continue to hold down the shift key while clicking Restart
Continue to hold down the shift key until the Advanced Recovery Options menu appears
Click Advanced options
Click Go back to the previous version of Windows
